FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: How will I know if you're the right therapist for me?
A. During your initial consultation I am diligent in our assessment to determine if I can provide the support you need. Should we decide to proceed, you should have a reasonable idea after a few sessions if you and I are the right fit.
Q: How long are the appointments?
A. My individual one on one counseling appointments last 60 minutes. I do offer longer sessions upon request and in advance.
Group therapy appointments are 1 hour and 30 minutes in duration.
Q: How often will we meet?
A: It really depends on your specific needs and goals. I typically recommend bi-weekly, but will see clients weekly if I have availability and this is appropriate for your care. Group therapy meets once a week.
Q: Do you accept insurance?
A: No, I do not accept insurance with the exception of Medical Mutual. I can, however, supply you with a receipt of service also known as a superbill. Most insurance providers will reimburse a portion of the cost of therapy for an out of network provider. You can contact your insurance company to find out their rate of reimbursement. For my services, payments or copays must be made immediately following the appointment via credit card.
Q: Can I cancel one of our sessions?
A: Yes, of course, but I ask for 24 hours notice.
Q: Do you prescribe medication?
A: No, I do not prescribe medicine.
Q. Will I feel supported to be my unique self in a group setting?
A. The answer is an emphatic yes! While it is true that group therapists cannot control everything that occurs within the group therapy setting, discrimination due to race, color, ethnicity, sex, religion, gender identity, sexual preference, age, and/or disability will not be tolerated under any circumstance in my groups or therapy. Nor will any violence or hateful behavior. This group environment celebrates diversity and inclusion and strives to attract a wide array of people and perspectives. This serves to add depth and richness to the collective group experience.
